The Royal BC Museum Corporation is one of Canada’s greatest cultural treasures. The museum was founded in 1886; the Archives, in 1894. In 2003, these two organizations joined to become British Columbia’s combined provincial museum and archives, collecting artifacts, documents and specimens of British Columbia’s natural and human history, safeguarding them for the future and sharing them with the world. - Sooke River Bluegrass Festival (June 16)
The Sooke River Bluegrass Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary this year with top national and local bluegrass bands Father’s Day weekend at the Sooke River Campground. The family event features bluegrass and Appalachian style old-time music, as well as workshops, jam sessions and a Saturday night square dance under a big top circus tent. Bring your camp chair, your guitar, banjo, fiddle or mandolin and join the fun.

Atomic Vaudeville is proud to bring Hedwig and The Angry Inch to Victoria audiences this June. Hedwig Robinson is not content to let her rock star ex-boyfriend Tommy Gnosis have all the success. She shares the stories of her life – ranging from escaping communist Eastern Germany, to her boxed sex-change that gave birth to the Angry Inch, to just who really wrote all those Tommy Gnosis songs that have been so popular. At times touching, this is a Bowie-esque glam-rock extravaganza of a musical comedy that audiences are sure to remember.
