1. Chemainus Theatre Presents Harvey (May 6-28)
Elwood P. Dowd is unlike anyone you’ve ever met. He insists on introducing his friend Harvey to everyone around town – trouble is, Harvey is an invisible six-foot-tall rabbit. This comedy of errors will make you laugh, and wonder: does the world need another normal chap, or more Harveys?
2. Langham Court Theatre Presents Escape from Happiness (April 21-May 7) – LAST WEEK!
This very funny dark comedy, set in working-class Toronto, tells the story of Nora, the matriarch of an eccentric, wacky family. Her daughter Mary Ann is a crazy runaway mother, her son-in-law Junior is a beat-up car thief, and her daughter Elizabeth is a hot-tempered bisexual.
3. Mother’s Day Musical Garden Tour @ Various Locations (May 7-8)
Strolling through beautiful gardens carried along by wonderful music, is there truly any better way to spend the day with a woman you love? On May 7 and 8 enjoy the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s 34th Annual Mother’s Day Musical Garden Tour. A unique self-guided tour featuring private gardens and special musical performances by VCM students and faculty.
4. Puttin’ on the Ritz @ Belfry Theatre (April 12-May 8) – LAST WEEK!
With no formal training, Irving Berlin wrote many of the greatest songs in history. His simple, uncomplicated music sparked dance crazes and moved a nation. This timeless revue, featuring incredible dancing and tunes like “Always,” “Count Your Blessings,” “Blue Skies,” and “Cheek to Cheek,” is a real treat for everyone.
5. An evening with Said the Whale @ Lucky Bar (May 6)
Vancouver indie-rockers Said the Whale return to Victoria for a sold-out show at Lucky Bar on Friday, May 6.
